Today was a very HOT day. I got up at 5:15AM and hit the gym for a great 6 mile run(on a crappy knee machine, of course :) and then headed home to wake up a super excited little girl for her field trip. This is the first field trip I have ever accompanied any elementary aged child on. The twins are old enough now that I can do that, especially when Kenzie is home. So, I packed my protein bar, fresh peaches for myself and Emma (YUM!) her lunch, and some cold Crystal Light for both of us and off we went! I rode on a school bus for the first time in MANY years and we wandered around the park learning about our state's history and heritage. It was fun and HOT. We danced the Virginia Reel, pulled handcarts, had instruction in an old fashioned pioneer school, took a train ride, watched a blacksmith make a cool leaf thingy and many other things! We had so much fun!(even though we thought we might melt in the sweltering heat) It was great to be able to spend my day with the most fabulous fourth grader on the planet! I love my beautiful, amazing Emma!
Emma did all manner of pioneer chores!
